Wednesday Wedding at The Wilds in Bloomington

Josh and Stephanie are married! They tied the knot on Wednesday in March at The Wilds in Bloomington. The day was just how you’d expect a March day in the midwest to be…unpredictable and always changing. We had rain, wind and also beautiful clouds and sunshine. What more could you want?

There are six girls in Stephanie’s family and this was the third time I’ve had the honor of shooting a wedding for them. I was so happy to see familiar faces and meet the children of my past clients. They made some adorable flower girls. One of my favorite parts of the day was hanging out with the girls while they were getting ready. All the sisters were listening to music and singing along. It felt like I was witnessing a special memory from the past and one in the making.

I loved the little nods to spring that were there throughout the day. The bridesmaids received custom birth-month flower necklaces. Of course, there were spring flowers like tulips on the tables. And the guests threw lavender buds at the couple as they came back down the aisle.

This was a first for me. After 14+ years of shooting weddings, I had a couple get married on a Wednesday! I feel like after Covid many plans were thrown off and couples started realizing that they could be more creative with dates, locations, and many other things as well. I personally really like some of the new trends we’re seeing. Things like weekday weddings, smaller and more intentional gatherings.

Josh and Stephanie wanted their day to be very relaxed and laid-back. Their ceremony was short and sweet, they had a grazing board for refreshment afterward and lots of pie. Everyone enjoyed conversation around the tables and the father of the bride even led everyone in a fun little song during his speech.

It’s clear to see Stephanie and Josh are a very good fit for each other. And I wish them all the best in their new life together.
