There’s something really special about doing a shoot with a couple that’s been married a few years. The engagement and the wedding are normally viewed as the most exciting events to shoot in my line of work. But I really enjoy the vibe of a couple that’s been married a while as well. There is a comfortableness and a plethora of inside jokes that have accumulated only with time. You’ve really come into who you are as a couple and you can be totally relaxed and be yourselves.
Hannah and Charles had us down to AR to photograph their beautiful wedding a few years ago. Since then we haven’t had a chance to do a shoot for them. Of course, I was very happy to oblige them in their request to have one done this last weekend. There weren’t any available sunset times during the weekend so I suggested the unthinkable, a sunrise shoot. I may have set four alarms, but we were all there and the sun didn’t disappoint.
“We’re already talking about going to the ocean next time and going in a lot deeper.”
I had told them ahead of time that if they were feeling like it I might ask them to get in the water a little bit. Being the fun, creative, and adventurous people they are, they said to go for it. Apparently, they even brought a change of clothes and towels in their car. We’re already talking about going to the ocean next time and going in a lot deeper.
Charles and Hannah, it’s so nice to see a couple that can relax and have fun together. Even in the midst of the really all-time consuming job of raising two little boys I’m glad you see the benefit of having pictures of just the two of you taken. Your boys will love seeing these pictures when they’re older. And I know at least for Tim and I there’s just something about having a space to laugh, play around and be asked to kiss (a lot) that gives a little recharge to everyday life.
I’ll stop talking now and you can enjoy the fun, romantic, happiness that is Charles and Hannah.
