They met in 9th-grade geometry class, and the rest is history…
McKenna and Sam have been a couple for about ten years now. They met in highschool, went to college, got engaged, bought a home, and planned their wedding for June, 2020. You wouldn’t be able to tell, but Sam and Mckenna had to change almost all of their plans, multiple times before this wedding was able to take place. They showed so much grace as they had to make hard decision after hard decision. 72 hours before they were supposed to get married in Indy they moved the whole wedding to where McKenna grew up, in Michigan. All their family pitched in and you never would have known it wasn’t the original plan.
I’ll dare to say it was one of the most gorgeous “plan B’s” you’ve ever seen. The Boho feel they had planned for the city looked amazing outside as well. McKenna told me that she always wanted to get married by the lake she grew up on and everything just felt right. I was hoping we could find something that had an urban feel for pictures since that was the original plan. The sisters told me about Wind and James, a really cool space close to them. The venue was perfect and so fun to shoot at! It was great to have half the portraits with more of a city feel and the other half by the lake. The ceremony was held in the yard as the sun was starting to set behind the trees. You could hear a chorus of sniffles as the bridal party cried happy tears as Sam and McKenna read the vows they had written.
The tent reception was filled with family and friends. Guests that had changed their plans around to make sure they were there to support and celebrate with Sam and McKenna. The toasts by the family were sweet and funny. The food was delicious. Everything was just perfect. To top everything off we got to shoot on an old speed boat!
McKenna and Sam, it’s been a complete honor to get to know you. From your proposal, engagement session, and now your gorgeous wedding. I hope our paths cross again many more times and I wish you both the best as you begin this next journey together.
