I think we traveled a combined time of 14 hours to make this shoot happen! We knew the shoot needed to happen in the wintertime and as everyone knows if you’re going to have a winter shoot, snow is preferable to mud and dead trees. The morning of the shoot came and my home in the South was covered in a lovely three inches of snow. Kathryn and Justin’s area way up North had absolutely no snow. I was a little worried we would drive so many hours and not find what we were looking for. As I traveled North the snow got less and less. Of course, we were going to make it beautiful no matter what but snow would be really really nice! We finally got to our destination and happy days, there was just enough snow!
Fun story about Kathryn. She has been following me on Instagram for many years. I think she found me the same year I started my IG. When she wrote me about shooting her wedding I was so excited to see her name and that it matched the handle that I considered one of my longest “loyalist” followers. I have a love-hate relationship with Instagram but when I can meet such great people in real life after years of acquaintance, it’s pretty cool.

I loved finally being able to meet Kathryn and get to know her and Justin. Their love story is pretty fun. He was in a band and when she was a teenager she went to one of his concerts. She noticed him but he had a full beard and she figured he was totally in his thirties. Well three years later she walks into her church and what band just happened to be leading music that day? Justin’s, of course. Anyways, long story short, they weren’t actually as far apart in age as she thought and after a couple years of a casual friendship, Justin asked if she wanted to be his girlfriend. They got engaged and here we are!
